Check out the USPTO requirements. An MS doesn't automatically qualify you like a Ugrad degree does. You'll need to qualify by number of credit hours. Download the app and check it out - you'll find that it isn't as simple as just getting a grad degree and taking the patent bar. You'll need the right combo of classes in the right amounts.
The other thing is that IP law is utterly fucked now. I have really great IP credentials and am scared shitless.
Finally, the engineering market has been shot to hell too.

yea the engineering market is pretty shitty d00d, particularly at the entry level. It's been hit hard ITE. The truth is you will have a hard time with an engineering masters, no technical UG degree, and no experience.

Pretty much everything has been hit hard.
People will mention a few hot sectors, but honestly i think the time you've heard about it the hiring has already been done. The Power industry, for example some will mention there's a demand. That's actually bullshit and they did all of their hiring '06-'08, then got rid of a lot during ITE (including me).

do you even understand what I wrote? I don't need to know the legal market to draw that conclusion.
TMF and I's disagreement is not related to law, but rather CS. I think he has an extremely overinflated and inaccurate view of his technical credentials, and should not blame ITE for his underemployment. For instance, he claimed in this very thread that he has better CS credentials than me. However, he also said before that he cannot sit for the patent bar without meeting some special course requirement thing, because his CS degree was like a BA degree. For comparison sakes, I have a degree in EECS from Cal, and I'm also working in the industry and applying to graduate school in CS. He is generally wrong on anything he posts about CS (for instance, his claim that IT and CS are the same thing, his hostility toward higher level math as an essential part of CS, etc.), and he is also overly defensively when called out on it. So while I try not to flame anyone these days, his insistence on doing this makes it hard not to once in a while.

"However, he also said before that he cannot sit for the patent bar without meeting some special course requirement thing, because his CS degree was like a BA degree."
LMAO, this isn't remotely close to correct but then again, none of your other shit is right either.
Incidentally, BA degrees are fine for the USPTO.
I could get a job in CS. The trouble is that I don't want to leave law. You are talking to a bunch of lawyers interested in IP law which you know nothing about. So gtfo and post on some CS forum you aspie loser.

You could probably get an IT job, luls. You don't want to leave your current shitlaw job, because even though it isn't much, it's the best thing you have.
Also keep denying, I distinctly remember you "having to research into whether you could sit for the patent bar". SAYTP B.A. in Information Technology.
And it's not my problem that people are too dumb to understand I'm not talking about patent law.

*yawn*
"You don't want to leave your current shitlaw job, because even though it isn't much, it's the best thing you have."
The thing is, like I said before and as others have pointed out, you have no idea how legal hiring or career progression works. If I got a higher paying job programming, then I would be in a worse position to return to law later. And as you probably are beginning to realize - programmers do not make big money. Lawyers, however, do.
"Also keep denying, I distinctly remember you "having to research into whether you could sit for the patent bar". SAYTP B.A. in Information Technology."
Again, not arguing about my resume which I can't even disclose on here. The point is that if you pull up the patent bar app, read it, and think really hard then just maybe you'll figure out the possibilities here. But in any event, it is pretty funny to see someone with a fucking ugrad degree talking so much shit. You just have no fucking clue about anything yet you'll talk shit about anything to just about anyone. You've never made six figures in your life and could well never make six figures yet you talk trash to someone who has made roughly double that. But ok, sure man, whatever floats your boat.
"And it's not my problem that people are too dumb to understand I'm not talking about patent law."
No kid, you're too dumb to understand that we are. Because you're an aspie virgin who has never touched a tit in your life that doesn't belong to your mother. Big mouth and small brain? That's you. Big ego small dick? Also you.
But serious question - why do you even post here?

*blah blah blah deny deny deny throw in random insult blah blah blah*
I don't have the time or interest to write out a full post, but let's face it: you were too dumb to do CS, so you went into law, but you still couldn't cut it in BIGLAW, because you have a horrible personality.
this line was gold though:
"You've never made six figures in your life and could well never make six figures yet you talk trash to someone who has *made* roughly double that."
NOTE THE TENSE. LMAO.

All I have to say is:
U MAD?
You are so easy to troll.
Also, talking about potential > living in the past, and in your case, a past that was still shit. But I guess deep down, EVEN you know that you don't have much to look forward to. Makes me kinda feel bad for pointing it out.

most places didn't even look at your grades unless it was an extremely prestigious place like Merck or Exxon. The Fed also requested grades too.
I started looking for jobs in Oct '07. Found one by late November (including the whole screening cycle, callbacks, flying out to meet them for 2nd round interviews, etc).
I graduated in May '08.
i think the class before mine had like 80% or somethign ridiculous get offers by 6 months out. And many of the other 20% were on the higher end of the spectrum, going to grad school

"I haven't gone to grad school yet"
I like how you say this as though you deserve credit for this. Translation: I don't have a grad degree.
"and my undergrad degree is from a top 3 program."
And you make like $65k/year. Look, adults are talking. Go back to the kids table.

I don't know any unemployed engineers, and I know a lot of engineers. Why do you think the engineering market is shot to hell?
I got the hell out of IP law (thank goodness) and started a software company. We pay our best people around 130k (which is worth it), and I'm constantly worried we'll lose them.
Am I missing something here? Maybe you are a biomedical or civil engineer?

It looks to me like you need to find something you like, you are good at, and is in demand.
If that's IP law, then go for this. But major in EE so that you can get a job. I'm not sure you should tell BU of your plans to leave engineering though, they'll probably want to train the best engineers.
If that's engineering then pick your discipline and go for it. Keep a good GPA and a positive business-minded attitude and you will find work.
