You will need to download something called "bannerbomb." I'm not sure how it works, but apparently it fools the Wii into letting you install the homebrew channel. Bannerbomb works in conjunction with something called "BootMii," which is basically an installer for Homebrew Channel.

You download bannerbomb. Get a blank SD card, and make a directory called "private." Unpack the bannerbomb .zip into that directory. Then you'll download "BootMii" and unpack it into the root directory of that SD card. You'll rename one file. Then, pop that shit into your Wii, go to "manage channels" or some shit, select "SD Card," and an installer pops right up. You can then easily install the Homebrew channel.

Once Homebrew channel is in, it's a similar amount of setup to get the apps/emulators to work. You basically just download the emulator, put it on the sd card in a directory called "apps," and throw your roms on there. You might have to do a little dicking around to get the directory structure the way the program likes it, but once it's set up you're good to go.
