It was cool that someone took the effort to compile all of that together but ultimately the list isn't that great. Probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the threads on it are pretty ordinary and don't deserve to be on a "best of" list. I was also disappointed that none of my anti law school girl or anti poor threads made the cut. Some of them are gold.
There is a certain recency bias to the list. The coverage of historically significant threads is ok, but it has average semi-recent threads over quality old threads. I didn't even notice XOXO: The Gathering on it.

Let's momentarily suspend disbelief and conclude that you are earnest in your criticism--although others posters tend to dispute the ranking and a couple of posts, you criticize their inclusion, leading one to believe that you are merely bitter that more of your own contributions are actually "top 200" threads (e.g., your own "anti law school girl" or "anti poor threads," which you self-validate as "gold," even though, in the numerous contributions to all the threads so far, no one else has mentioned them as glaring omissions).
Let's also ignore the fact that you believe that you could find approximately 130 threads to replace 130 of the threads we listed (which seems like a fairly Herculean task, but I supposed you've made at least 130 contributions to this forum, which is perhaps what you refer to)?
But the "certain recency bias" is entirely false. In the entire top 50, there is only one post from either 2008 OR 2009: "and the wind SCREAMS jewdood." In contrast, there are 8 posts from 2004, and 17 posts from 2005, comprising half of the top 50.
Given that there have been almost 200,000 posts this year, and 170,000 posts last year, it's certainly not a "bias" to include just one "recent" post in the top 50. And, at the same time, it's not inappropriate to include a fair number of "recent" posts lower in the rankings--after all, more than a third of this board's content has occurred in the last twenty-two months of this board's history, and it's arbitrary to exclude it.
But we're sure you've graphed out all of these things and feel like bitching because we shafted your forgettable posts.
