WHICH FIRMS have made associates DISAPPEAR?

What law firms have had a significant number of associates "disappear" in the last 8 months? Certainly, some laid off associates before February 1. And some have "deferred" associates, or given them a year off. Others may have left voluntarily. Still others may have been elevated to partner. And some have already started incoming associates. But could we notice any significant trends? Here's a look at the home offices for the Vault 25. (Caution: firms may classify "associate" differently for NALP than on its own Web site, among other factors.) VAULT. OFFICE (CITY): FEB 1 to CURRENT, TOTAL CHANGE, % CHANGE 1. Weren't there "layoffs" in that office a few weeks ago? |

So looking at total attorneys is probably more accurate. Unless we think they actually brought in a slew of partners while firing associates.
