There was enough money in that bill to give massive, massive tax subsidies to companies for creating jobs. Subsidies so massive that they would make it stupid NOT to be hiring people. But instead of subsidizing employment, Obama spends money on time-delayed pork and making unemployment more comfortable. WHY? |

Many of the stimulus programs (aid to states, for example) have slowed or prevented job losses. What I think everyone agrees on is that there should have been more infrastructure spending in year 1; remember though, the size of many of these programs were cut down in the bill making process.
Overall, if I were to ask Obama/Rahm to change one thing, it would be to be more specific about what they want in bills. Both in the stimulus and health care, it's been too process oriented. |
