It is normal to add about 5 lbs to your lifts every week. That is a pretty standard rule. You can google it.

This would be +5 lbs to a BB curl, or 2.5 lbs to DB curls (totaling 5lbs).

Yeah, my point was that people who do 35s for their standard bicep workout COULD curl 50s if they wanted to. Like if they were trying to find out their 1RM (they could probably exceed 50lbs).

But like I said above, it's usually best to do high reps for biceps so 35 is common. People just usually do around ~10 reps with good form. And this is in addition to doing some hammer curls, BB curls, cables, preachers, etc. OP probably has shitty form and does under 10 reps, 1 set, and only with bicep curls.

I do 35s for 12 reps/4 sets for bicep curls and hammer curls.

I also do close grip pull ups and cables.

Sometimes I'll throw BB curls into the mix for the hell of it.

Keep in mind I'm 180 lbs.

I think you exaggerate, but during the bar exam I had a shoulder injury and was staying in an apartment complex with a small mini gym. I didn't have time (or didn't feel I had time) to go to the real gym so every other day I went to the apartment gym to rehab my shoulder and also do pullups for 30 min or so.

By the bar exam I could do over 20 pull ups. Unfortunately no more at home gym so I only do pullups once a week and my strength has gone down a little.

But really, if someone has never touched weights in their life, they have to start somewhere. Obviously this guy, if not flame, is way behind the curve for his size, but I'm always impressed by guys that have never done shit in their lives, then suddenly commit to lifting. If my dad hadn't pushed it on me, there's no fucking way I would have touches a bar in hs, and I'd very likely be in this guys (professed) position. I'm not saying this guy should feel great about his accomplishments thus far, but people shouldn't be trying to make him feel bad about it, and if they are it speaks more to their own insecurities IMO.
