I recommend a floating rate senior secured loan ETF, those yield like 8% right now (because they have some back-leverage, similar to a CLO) and I think that these candidly have low risk of principal loss. you are okay with inflation as well, since this is floating rate. you could also look at some BDC's such as FSC or Apollo that yield 10%+ and make similar loans...

Date: December 26th, 2009 6:20 PM Author: Cerebral Citrine Antidepressant Drug The next move is simply getting the fuck out of BIGLAW. I actually want to use my savings to enjoy life for a couple years. Thinking of going abroad, doing a graduate degree in something useless.
All I know is that if I stay in BIGLAW right now I will go crazy. I am so sick of it and it's made me pretty unhappy and unfufilled. I never want another BIGLAW job.
When I come back after taking a couple years off I'm going to try for a government job, really small firm with 1-3 attorneys, or I'll just start my own firm. I am lucky I saved enough that I don't have to worry for at least a couple years.

And at least my loans give you 1% reduction for paying three years straight on-time payments, so I have that. My actual rate is closer to 3%.
