HR departments keep a detailed file on every employee in case of a potential lawsuit. Assuming he is NOT terminated immediately (which is a big assumption), this info can be put in his file and then used as justification to fire him in the future, purely at the whim of the company, but ostensibly on these grounds. It can also be used against him in future performance reviews to justify lack of raises and promotion.
This also largely depends on what state he's in. |

I have a fairly lengthy thread on this subject I would reference if search was working. I don't work in HR but am usually the liaison to HR and work with them frequently in situations like this.
That having been said, you should know that sexual harassment in taken very seriously by virtually every HR department. The odds are against you. The burden is on you to -prove- that this did not happen. They will side with the woman.
In the absence of damning evidence of her making this up you'll either get fired or severely reprimanded. Large part of it has to do with your importance to the company (tenure, roles, responsibilities, etc.), past history, and how lenient HR/management is. Most HR departments are very, very risk averse so that's not good in this situation.
I was personally involved in a situation like this when a co-worker told a woman "fat chicks need lovin' too" and I had to testify against him. If I remember correctly they were teetering on firing or discipline and he got a severe discipline because he was contrite and had a clean record.
