I called up [REDACTED] and was like "sup, I go to Harvard"

[REDACTED] was like "nmnm would you like to come over for an interview"

I was like "sure"

So I flew out and got my parents to buy me an awesome hotel room in a swanky part of town. A friend of mine from college lives in that town now, so the night before the interview we had an aspie hotel party where we talked about math and sociology while ordering fancy desserts off the room service menu

Then I showed up to the interview, talked to two lower-ranking people. They seemed really excited to have me there. They took me to their supervisor, who halfway through the interview said "we're going to make you an offer, but let's finish the formalities of the interview first". I had to dutifully ask a few questions about the position before we went over to print an offer letter.

HOWEVER - u may want to look at the U-Street area. It's the fastest gentrifying part of NW right now and it has a great nightlife. Lot's of good ethnic food, college skanks, etc. Parts are still sketchy where you can do 1000/month.

Otherwise, stay by Capitol Hill. They have lots of old brownstone looking houses where gov employees/students share rent for cheap.

The salary is shit, as I said, and part of me feels sad that I went to HLS and all I get is shitty government pay. But part of me also understands that I would not have enjoyed BigLaw and that a 9-5 job will let me enjoy my life and be a little freer.

My ideal exit strategy at this point is to use this as a stepping stone to non-legal private industry.

Is your government agency of the type that can lateral to biglaw after 3-5 years (i.e. SEC/FCC/DOJ)??

The reason I was asking is because I would kill for a job at one of these places, but I didn't think that 3Ls could get hired still. I'm not at H, but a pretty good school.
