Date: May 26th, 2010 1:49 PM Author: cheese-eating halford - went to a CITY UNIVERSITY (2k a semester) out of high school - got a part-time job and started saving $$$ while in my sophomore year - went part-time to pursue b2b sales job (salary + commission) full-time for a year - now just got full-time consulting job @ 60k while finishing up classes part-time at night and on the weekends, paying for each semester CASH while LIVING AT HOME WITH MY PARENTS - no debt, solid b-school prospects if i keep up my good GPA (3.8) and get a good GMAT score
rate me independently and then relative to the NYU 275k kid TYIA |

Date: May 26th, 2010 1:59 PM Author: cheese-eating halford MAYBE. but my parents are my best friends and i am very grateful for their resources and inclination to always be extremely supportive. but at least i'm working to change my dependency. i don't have to live with them but i want to save a lot of $$$ while it's still socially acceptable for me to live with them. plus i work so much and am in school it makes no sense to pay 1500/mo. for somewhere to crash at when i already have a place to sleep.
i will pay them back by moving out soon and giving them grandkids before i am 30. |

you know what I would do if I had to do it over again,
my brother was a CS major and got hook up w/ coop program where he goes and works a semester and then goes to school a semester, been doing that since he was a sophmore,
school I went to, which meets how you defined city college, (I always thought of it as a state school) has the same thing for engineering majors,
would have been a pretty sweet setup if I had been on the ball enough to take advantage of it, appreciate college more the semesters you were there, actually have a little spending money, have better work experience than everyone when you graduate.
i was one of those idiots trying to get into law school, oh well |
