Even when I engage in activities that lend themselves to creativity (writing stories, playing guitar, etc.), I either hit a wall, or produce something that isn't creative. Sometimes, I'll end up producing things that are just stupid, thinking they're creative at first.

Marijuana doesn't help much. 90% of the time, I just want to listen to music, jack off, and eat ice cream.

I'm not sure about alcohol, but I think it just makes me lazy and have a short attention span.

I'm not open to trying stimulants or hard drugs, but have psychedelic mushrooms worked for anybody?

Maybe just accept the fact that you are not a creative person. If you do mushrooms, you'll come up with the same boring music/writing but just a little more freaky on the edges. You will still be frustrated.

Maybe quit playing your own music, writing, whatever, and resign yourself to playing other people's shit. Eventually, hot girls will wanna do you anyway.

It's not about the end result: it's about strengthening my creative abilities. I lift weights to get stronger, so why can't I do things to become more creative?

acid and psilocybin will increase your capacity for connection, association, and metaphor, which are a few of the essential things about creativity; they will also make you less afraid. acid is also a dopamine agonist, which will make you much more kickass as well. the problem is that during the trip, it's unlikely that you will be artistically creative; even if you have a sensory trip, it's likely to be kind of childlike

no, it's mind-opening in a very broad and general way and the dopaminergic effects at least last for a few days.

Doesn't this deplete your dopamine stores and send you into a "low" for awhile?

no; a dopamine agonist activates the dopamine receptors without the use of actual dopamine. the low is not a crash like with coke or caffeine or even sugar, it's just that the effects of the drug have finally worn off, and losing them can feel pretty horrible depending on where you were at when you took them and how the trip went.

Then mightn't the creation of new receptors lead to the problems that long-term smokers and other addicts experience? I heard something about the brain creating new receptors in this context.

this seems incredibly unlikely to me, and if it happens it's probably only with very, very frequent use. i'm more an advocate of a trip when you're feeling "lost," "disconnected," "lethargic," "depressed" etc.

an agonist for a certain chemical is a different chemical that can bind to the receptors for that chemical, mimicking the natural chemical and triggering a response in the receptor.

All I know is that having an innate talent in something that puts you ahead of so many people + experimenting within your known bounds and perhaps on the fringes is what leads to new ideas or at least helps a lot.

How you do this...hell if I know man for the OP
