I don't even mean full-time after college - even as a lifeguard in high school or something. It always amazes me how many law students never held a single job. Whenever you're doing doc-review, it's never just a few hours---it's a few weeks, which gets mind-numbing. Then you want to do substantive work, but you can't.
But when you get substantive work, you just get buried under it and life becomes very stressful. And at that point you want to go back to doing doc-review, but you can't.
It's difficult to find balance. But if you manage to pull it off, and you have a good, smart, mentor, it can be a pretty sweet gig. |
