I had tried to date other people, but as long as we were dating it didn't work out so well because I always just wished I was with Susie. So I told her we should stop dating and just be friends. So then she proceeds to start exclusively dating another guy and gets semi-serious. Then all of the sudden she starts calling me at all times of the day, 3 AM or 8AM or 2 in the afternoon. Then one night she got drunk and needed me to pick her up. Logistically it was impossible for me to take her back to her apt, so she just stayed at mine. I made her sober up before she went to bed. So I go to put her in my bed and I was going to sleep on the couch. However, she just starts taking off all her clothes and tells me she wants me to hold her. So I do, the whole night. I didn't sleep at all, I jsut stared at her the whole night. She told me the next morning how wonderful it felt to wake up in my arms. I didn't know what was going to happen, I wasn't really thinking about it. Then about two days later she invited me to go hang out with her, except she was in a group of people that included the guy she had been dating. It was then when I realized what I had to do. But you are right, it could be a regional thing. My family is from the Northeast, Chicago, and San Diego. If I didn't get married until my mid-30s, people would just attribute it to me focusing on career for a good part of my life, and think I was doing the mature thing by waiting until later in life to marry. If anything, my family is more into having me wait until I was older to get married: I would raise much more eyebrows if I got married in my mid-20s than if I got married in my mid-30s. |
