"In some ways, Mr. Kogler has it easy. There aren't a lot of unemployed doctors. So he and Ms. Tidwell should be able to pay back her loans (albeit over 20 or 30 years) as long as they live relatively modestly. He might feel differently if he were dating a *lawyer with similar debt but less certain prospects,* or an X-ray technician who would really like to be a photographer."

Pretty credited description of the feeling. I don't want to go on if all that's ahead of me is lifelong poverty, loneliness, and debt payments.

I have 60k-80k in private debt. So while IBR will be nice (assuming I can get a job with the gubmint - no guarantee ITE), it won't cure my problem and I'll still be povertypwned for life.

Go back to school, borrow max allowed federal loans, use $ to pay off private loans, IBR fed loans, ???, profit

Hahaha. This might work if they provided you with enough federal loans to sustain those loan payments AND pay to live (eat, drink, housing, etc.) but it doesn't even come close. Something about taking out 8.5% interest loans to pay off 6% loans doesn't seem credited, either.

You'd be working rather than actually attending school. And taking out 8.5 pct loans to pay off 6 pct loans is credited when you don't have to pay back the 8.5 pct loans.

You mean go to school full-time while I simultaneously work full-time? Sounds tough, but I guess it beats being debtpwned for life.
