I worked there this past summer and all the people are great. It has a good culture and the work is interesting.

What are hours like there? I've been at other NYC firms so I am familiar with long hours. Is Ropes' reputation for being good on hours fluff or is there some truth to it?

I think you are going to work similar hours to other NY firms, but the culture still seems better - not as cut throat.

God I hate fucktard law students.

It all depends on what you want to do and where you want to be. Don't make this call on vault ranking. Make it on what office is where you want to be and makes money doing the type of work you want to do. PROTIP: there are big fucking differences between those firms' specialties.

PROTIP2: Ropes in NY for IP (especially medical IP) and private equity buyouts. Milbank for project finance (especially energy projects). Latham if you want to be in CA.

Latham is the best firm on the last, depending on what office you're headed to. Ropes is a step behind outside of Boston. Milbank is a half step behind that.

I like both locations. NOT making this call based on rankings. They both have the groups I want to practice in. Not interested in any of the specialties.

More concerned with job stability at any of these places. Is it a good decision taking Latham after what happened with layoffs?
