and YES, i realized that it was "really bad" and i felt fucking terrible about it. ty for mentioning that; people seem to think that i'm rationalizing it and/or convincing myself that it was okay. it wasn't; it was mean and inappropriate. but it WASN'T A THREAT. i did not mean to imply that i would do the things i informed her could be done. i meant to scare her - to make her realize that she'd behaved stupidly and to ensure that she wouldn't make similar mistakes in the future.

she needs to learn that actions have consequences. learning is reinforced through feedback.

You either wanted to scare her into being more protective of her information or wanted to scare her into thinking someone was threatening her regardless of if you intended to carry out the threat. The former is impossible because of the trueblood thread: either you wanted someone to carry out the threat thus negating your intent to help her OR never thought anyone would actually maliciously attack her proving you didn't actually have that intent with the email since it would have been pointless.

Therefore, you must have intended to scare her in the sense that you wanted her to fear that someone was going to do something bad to her.

I say chemically dependent because in our experience most adolescents have experimented with many forms of drugs. However, in my opinion, alcohol seems to be their “drug of choice”.

“Tough love” and “confrontation” are two terms I have not heard in Al-Anon. It means accepting the fact of a situation, and then deciding what we will do about it.” It says, “We are not bound morally or legally to shoulder the alcoholic’s responsibilities.” But we, as parents of adolescents, are legally responsible for our children until they become 18.

ODAT says, “When I am desperate enough to ask for help, I will not expect it to come in the form of easy solutions. I must play a part in solving my problems, but my Higher Power will provide the guidance and the strength to take the right action.” Also, “How can I make myself aware that my weak-kneed acceptance of an unacceptable situation is a reflection of my own self-respect?”
