My self-summary
I'm a native Bostonian, but I love being in New York - just don't expect me to ever root for the Yankees. I've lived all over the country, including Los Angeles and Nashville, but came back to the northeast for grad school a few years ago and hope to stay here for a while.
I like hiking but not camping, enjoy lifting weights and doing yoga, and would love to start playing racquetball again. For the past two summers I've attended the Manhattan Polo Classic on Governor's Island, which is a fun excuse to dress up for a day and act fancy.
I really love planetariums, but the fact that the "personality" section deems me "more scientific" than the average straight woman scares me a bit. I was a humanities major. I have a degree in theology for chrissakes! I took basic science courses in high school and college and did reasonably well in them, but I'm no scientific genius. I really hope this isn't based on my knowledge that the sun is bigger than the Earth.
And I'm not the Sonnet. I don't know what they want, but I'm much closer to the Maid of Honor.
I don't actually wear my glasses outside all that often.

I work on media campaigns for an LGBT rights nonprofit. I have a degree in theology and a background in the relationship between religious belief, public opinion, and the politics of gender and sexuality. I love that I've found a job that allows me to really use my background.

I'm a bit of a foodie, but try not to be pretentious about it. If i'm going out to eat, my usual choices are Thai or Vietnamese. Offhand, the only cuisines I'm iffy about are Korean and French.
In terms of books, I loved Brave New World, All Quiet on the Western Front, and My Antonia. I'm a huge fan of Margaret Atwood.
Secretary and Lars and the Real Girl are among my favorite movies. basically, I like quirky and hate horror.
I mostly listen to indie music - The Weepies, The Eels, The Dodos, Anna Ternheim, The Shins, etc. You get the idea. I also grew up around a lot of Simon & Garfunkel and The Beatles, so they have a special place in my heart. Especially the White Album. Uh, and Sister Hazel reminds me of middle school in the best possible way.
If we're doing karaoke, I will probably sing something by Barenaked Ladies. Or Sweet Caroline. Like I said, I'm a native Bostonian.

We live in a 100+ year old house with gas heat. Hot water sometimes runs out, especially when you’re the last person to shower. I was the second to last. Was I in there a bit longer than I should have been? Entirely possible - time tends to get away from me when I wake up with a migraine, since hot water is extremely helpful.
The other thing you shouldn’t do, unfortunately, is try to take a shower when the other shower is already in use. I know it sucks, but despite having two full bathrooms, we never have enough pressure or hot water for both to be in use at the same time. Most of my shower was lukewarm at best, and a second person trying to shower made it much worse.
He could have easily banged on my bathroom door and asked me when I’d be done. I don’t mind, and the passive aggressive shit is, well, childish. Especially for someone who is 31. I’m sorry the house isn’t newer, I’m sorry we run out of water, and I’m sorry you’re not adult enough to have a discussion about it. We’re all on different schedules for the most part, so when they do coincide, you might have to actually speak up.

First, any biblical quotation in English has been translated several times, generally from ancient Hebrew to Greek and then to an earlier form of English and later into modern English. Ancient Hebrew didn’t have words for a lot of modern concepts, so we’re basically retroactively imposing concepts that didn’t exist within the context in which the original text was written.
Second, unlike what we often see today among conservative Christians, Christian history actually has a significant history of interpretation, rather than literalism, which means that the Christian Bible was not taken as God’s literal word until very recently. Modern Christian fundamentalism can be traced back to a series of essays written between 1910 and 1915 called (creatively) The Fundamentals. That means that passages like the one above were not taken literally until the past 100 years.
And just as an example of an alternate interpretation of this passage that does not condemn gay men, a number of scholars and clergy have argued that this passage actually prohibits straight men from engaging in ritualistic orgies that involved sex with other men. So it wouldn’t be about the actual act of sleeping with another man, but rather what the act represented.
As a sort of similar, but unrelated, side note, few Christians condemned abortion or birth control until the last third of the 20th century.
