Meanest Fish - The Feel Good Story of 1L

So take that RWA and everyone else who said I'd fail miserably.

- Was more active in class instead of just passively trying to take it in.
- Didn't outline. This may not be a good idea for many, but for me outlining wasted a ton of time and yielded little benefit.
- Talked to the prof before exams.
- Yeah, experience really helped me understand what is going on. 1st semester I was lost. Here I knew what to focus on.
- Improved my research and writing skills. One of my As was legal research and writing.
Note, that I'm still not anywhere near perfect. I got one B where I was sure I'd do better. Plus, I had classes where I was just better. 2/3 As were in elective classes with 2Ls and 3Ls there, and classes I simply knew a lot about coming in. |

Here's what does matter - I've figured out how to play the LS game. I'll likely get a 2L firm job. I'll likely get on a secondary journal. Given how I started I'm very happy. |

I just really liked the firm, canceled/rejected the other callbacks, and stuck with the firm where I had an offer. Ironically, the best firms actually gave me call backs late in the game. The earlier callback firms were pretty mediocre (again, poor bidding results during OCI). I also didn't interview in 3L because I liked my 2L firm.
That's not what failure is. Failure is not getting a decent job. Period. But feel free to keep telling yourself that your shit smells sweeter than mine.
Somehow I doubt you're getting more than $160K+bonus in NYC.
