Date: April 28th, 2012 1:18 PM Author: Know-it-all stage halford Been ADA in big Eastern city (not NY) for 2-3 years. Tried 30 or 40 trials. I am tired of being so broke. My office recently approached me and told me they couldnt give me a "merit raise", but could compensate me if I headed up a particular task force. They suggested forensic science. I'd get a few thousand, and get to travel around, attend conferences, etc. Then I'd give trainings in the office on forensics, etc.
Long term, I doubt I will be practicing criminal law.
And I don't really care about the thousand or two. But I DO want to take advantage of the chance to have my current office pay me to learn a specialty that I could parlay into my next job.
Thus -- I don't think it will be forensics. What high paying job cares about fingerprints, dna, gun ID, blood splatter, etc. My question is this -- what could I convince my office to pay me to learn? What would be most profitable for me down the road? What would look great on a resume sent to a civil firm? |
