Good ideas actually.

But what about for my career? Things seem precarious.

1, don't panic because you have a few slow weeks. This is typical in transactional practice and it can and will change with just one phone call.

2, respond to one of the headhunters who has emailed or called and begin the process of shopping your resume. This process can take between 4 and 12 weeks to work through, so it may make sense to start now.

Is the whole group slow, or are you just not getting assignments? If you are really shitmidlaw, you may have clients who refuse to pay for first years. If the entire practice is slow, what is going on with the clients? Regardless of ITE, there should be a trickle of K, Q and proxy form checks, random periodic reports, and sort of random diligence to do.

The whole group is slow. Can't tell if I am also particularly getting less work, but I don't think so compared to others at my level. I assume a lot of the clients are pretty strapped but there is a trickle of work. I'm steadily billing about half what I should be.

maybe, she can at mine. even if she doesn't have access, she will be hooked into the gossip circles and have an idea of how the firm is doing.

figure out if there is a big doc review case going on around the office or firm. bump into partner who handles said case in bathroom. Offer to suck his dick if he'll put you on doc review for his case.

i feel for you brother. i had to endure the same shit when i started out in biglaw. unfortunately for me, i got mass layoffpwned and my legal career did indeed get fucked. i have yet to find a job that pays me as much as a first year biglaw salary.
