hi bros. lengthy screed here. u don't have to read, i just have to poast.

i was super lax in bar studying all summer, up until the beginning of this week. as of last week, I had done like... 5 essays total.

in the past 4 days, i have done about 20-25 essays. lost track. the majority of them I had to get a handle on the subjects by looking at the outlines and copying blocks from the sample answers. still haven't tackled remedies, civpro, or PR. haven't touched PTs.

by the 5th essay on each of the subjects i did tackle, i had a much better sense on issue spotting and outlining. i was able to write at least a good chunk of essay without looking at the outlines or answers.

but there is a mountain of information bros. it's incredible. i don't know how i'm gonna get all this info down in my head.

fuck, guys. fuck.

i put in average 10 hours a day. is that enough? definitely doesn't feel like it.

on the bright side, crushing the MBE mixed sets at 80%.

hai me last yr. didn't start studying until after july 4 and took cali bar. caused me much undue stress plus spending months thinking 50-50 chance to fail. fortunately i passed. u probably will too.

focus on the MBE first because those topics are double-tested on the essays and MBE. forget about preparing for the PTs, you have no time. focus on the state topics that you struggle with the most

already crushing the MBE subjects.... and already did 5 essays for each of the MBE subjects.

gonna have to not take your advice about PTs bro, no offense. tomorrow is the day I learn PTs.

Stop worrying. I did one essay and realized the "reviewers" were not worth my time. Do you need practice structuring basic legal writing? If not, don't worry too much. Almost everyone on XO will pass.

And lol at preparing for PTs. Do you need practice issue spotting and writing a basic legal memo? PT = free points for people who are meant to be lawyers and learned how to read and write before LS.

thanks for the tips brehs.

i just listened to the first PT workshop lecture (wanted to blow my brains out). still a little overwhelmed by all the possible kinds of documents that could come up as tasks. but i think i can handle this shit if i do 2-4 PTs between now and the test.

Did you not learn how to spot issues and facts in LS? I am bewildered by practicing for the PT. people who are "weak" on the PT will be shitty lawyers. It's your choice how you spend your time though.

yeah i understand. I think i issue spot and write argument well.. a lot of practice in school.

but i'm more worried about being intimidated by not being familiar with the material/structure. once i see a couple of sample answers (i've looked at one), i'm sure i'll feel better.

All you need to know for essays is IRAC. Issue spotting is easy...the rule you don't have to know verbatim, just the substance of it, apply the facts to the rule...if there's any dispute as to which way it could go explain why and then reach a conclusion.

Move on to next Issue. Repeat until no more issues/your hours is up.

Barbri tries to make things complex by giving you roadmaps and shit. You don't need roadmaps. This is a test of minimal competency and if you can IRAC you'll do just fine. Don't make it overcomplicated.

im also taking california as well. i also did 5 essays (for grading). now, i am no longer writing out essays in full because it will freak me out (same thing I did with another state's bar). so, I just review the essays and learn from them.

i am also going over outlines as many times as i can.

bros, i'm happy to come back and report to you some good news. warning: lengthy screed stream of consciousness

i was freaking out about real prop MBE and shit, so in the past 12 hours, i blazed through about 200-300 practice barbri questions, and also did the 100-question barbri "final" test. i did pretty shitty on the practice "final" and freaked the fuck out.

so I went to NCBE website and purchased 100 questions from the Feb 2007 exam or something.

blazed through them in about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and scored..

fucking 84%. 84 GUYS. hahaha holy shit guys i feel so much better...

anyway that's a load off my chest.

gotta get back to learning these fucking state subjects.
