If you picture almost any other society with lesser institutions, diversity inevitably leads to factionalism and sectarian conflict. It's laughable how easy it is to find examples of this, and yet American shitlibs still have a ridiculous and unquenchable diversity fetish. I think much of it is driven by living in a high IQ isolated bubble. 115+ IQ people of various races and cultures and backgrounds can live together in compact urban areas and in academic environments without hating or murdering each other, but the double digit folks that make up over half the population really can't.
Unless your diversity consists of a majority of Han Chinese, a significant minority of high IQ striver whites, and a working class consisting of low violence conservative cultured and preferably non-Muslim South and Southeast Asians, then it's probably going to be worse than the alternative with less diversity. So Singapore or bust. |

Date: October 5th, 2013 3:30 PM Author: racy windowlicker no great fan of diversity myself, but are you sure about the direction of the causation arrow. could not diversity be a symptom of a place where social conditions are so frenetic and anomie is high that trust is low: think of how everyone moves into new york. ethnic homogeneity hasn't prevented social trust from being super-low (lower than USA as a whole) in black ghettos, sicily, syria, greece, or china. the low-trust parts of america are not going to turn high-trust in the short run if you deport all non-majority folks. i suggest fostering institutions and conditions which promote social trust, if social trust is what you want. oc if white nationalism is what you want you should be brave enough to say you prefer that for its own sake |

It's hilarious how this bort has developed such a thorough and complex critique of GC since this thread happened, but somehow that all vanishes when contemplating diversity as a completely distinct societal construct. The key moment when U.S. society became vastly more inclusive and diverse was post-WW2, as 300+ years of WASP dominance gave way to Catholics and Jews being tolerated. Not coincidentally this was when economic security for the masses was at its peak, and when several other massive social changes weren't also pursued in parallel (i.e we were still a masculinist, church-going, hetero and cis-centric society). It's no coincidence that we're backsliding post-ITE when we've simultaneously swallowed a huge economic turd and flung the doors open for gays and trannies to gain full equality. But if we do eventually get to a place where the social safety net is strong enough to have the basic economic needs of the population met it will correlate with a much more peaceful racial dynamic. And the feminism/gender wars during the 70s-present similarly somehow drops out of consideration. We doubled the workforce, hugely undermined the basic economic structure of family units and pitted all straight people against each other in a multi-generational re-negotiation of all domestic labor. That much change being forced on everyone at the same time is completely crazy. The fact that we still have the greatest economy and military in the world is a huge credit to our institutions and the elites who run them. It hasn't been perfect by any means, and there's a ton of room for improvement. But we went from "only straight WASP men need apply" to "let's debate whether a 7 year tranny should have special rights at school" in the span of two generations.
