I'm not sure I buy either of them, neither of which were fully fleshed out in this talk show clip:
1) The economic harm caused by averting climate change is worse than the climate change itself.
2) The warming trajectory we are on won't do a whole lot of damage anyway.
I don't konw. If the sea levels rise and we lose a boatload of coastal cities and near-sea-level farm land... that's not good. I heard recently how a couple degrees could raise oceans enough to wipe out shitloads of asian rice fields, for example. I don't care enough about this issue to research it, but I'd imagine the research is more or less inconclusive. |
