Date: May 26th, 2013 1:03 PM Author: stimulating windowlicker at my firm, staff associates in litigation are "discovery specialists." that is, they have a lot of technical and operational expertise with document collection, litigation holds, etc. it's actually not a bad position to leverage into an in-house job if you want to because large companies are beginning to develop this kind of expertise in-house. that said, it's not really being a "lawyer." The pay is good--45/hr + time and a half--but a recruiter told me that is absolute top of the market so there's really not much hope of ever doing much better. Unless I can becum a senior staff attorney I guess. The downsides mentioned above are all true and I know that I'm basically mortgaging my career for a few pay days now.
