Ted Kennedy is a good example, but he's really the only national liberal figure that has died while still on the national stage in quite a long time. I imagine that there will be much rejoicing when Hillary and Bill finally kick the bucket, for whatever that's worth. I don't really have a problem with this to be honest, I celebrated the death of Margaret Thatcher and laughed my ass off when Jerry Falwell died. I'm just smart enough to keep my feelings bottled up. |

Libs haven't grasped that, for cons, patriotism trumps politics, whereas for libs, it's often vice versa. See, for example, Dems eagerly counting up mounting Iraq deaths in hopes it would undermine confidence in Bush, whereas you never see death toll counts since Obama took office because now neither party likes to think about those numbers. Aside from a few hicks in the south, cons would uniformly mourn the president's assassination because they see it as an offense to the country's greatness. And of course there would be some resentment that Obama would become canonized despite his mediocrity, but that's a far cry from the barbaric reaction libs seem to be dreaming up. |
