Most top-40 summertime jams aren't great songs, they're just catchy enough and bland enough to not drive you insane when you hear it for the 20th time. Occasionally there will be a Hey Ya, but more often it's some shit like Blurred Lines.

I think the chorus is why the song is popular. The rapping sucks. Took me all summer to figure out iggy azalea was the rapper and not the singer and that she was white and apparently being an australian white girl with a "thing" for tats and bbc is now a ticket to stardom.
