Rebekah Blair Bowling and Andrew Yau-Chang Chen were married Saturday evening at the Harold Pratt House in New York. The Rev. Jason P. Radmacher, a Methodist minister, officiated.

The bride, 32, is keeping her name. She is an artist liaison and an associate director for Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York, which specializes in contemporary art. She graduated from the University of Virginia and received a master’s degree in art business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. She is the daughter of S. Darlene Bowling and C. Ray Bowling of Richlands, Va.

The groom, also 32, analyzes stocks and bonds at Kingdon Capital Management, a hedge fund in New York. He graduated from Dartmouth. He is the son of Lainee Chen and Francis W. Chen of San Francisco.

The couple met in June 2012 at a mutual friend’s party in Washington. They were both visiting from New York.

“I noticed her first, I thought she was really cute,” Mr. Chen said. “I went over and talked to her and was very happy to hear that she lived in New York.”

They began talking about New York restaurants and their favorite foods, and when Ms. Bowling asked Mr. Chen for his favorite restaurant, he stunned her by quickly replying, “I don’t know, maybe Prune or Torrisi?”

She was floored. “He named two of my very favorite places,” she said.

He was thrilled. “It’s not easy to make such an immediate connection with someone who is that attractive and smart,” he said. “But she was very open-minded and had a great personality, and we connected right away.”

They were soon dating and eating together at each other’s favorite restaurants across the city.

“I was very attracted to him and loved his silly sense of humor,” Ms. Bowling said. “We often joked that if we ever stopped seeing each other, we would have to divide our restaurants like assets. We’ve yet to come to an agreement about who would get to claim Prune.”

In April he surprised her with a dinner at Le Bernardin, the No. 1 restaurant on her wish list.

“We had an amazing meal with the most special ending: He proposed,” Ms. Bowling said. “It was incredibly fitting that it happened at what is now my favorite restaurant.” VINCENT M. MALLOZZI
