Then I found this job, where I'm actually learning to be a teacher and not a dancing monkey. It is really decent money for the city I live in, and management is good. I could work here for 5 more years easy, but I'm trying to change fields to earn a little more cash. This time next year I want to be a full time web developer.
The school is affiliated with their home country's government, so management is decent. I'm not a citizen of that country though, so I don't get the pension. The other teachers do. |

Looking at the chart above we really aren't too far from the average wage. People who are earning shit right now are earning shit because that's what they're worth, not because the economy is fucked.
and for the record even the article talks about wages being down, but by less than 10%. Even if things were the best they'd ever been average college grad wages would be far under what we think of as acceptable (less than $20 an hour). |
