Ever's deal is that it pays 1.6% for six months and then a lot less for the rest of the year (together it comes out to 1.11%). HAB guarantied 1.11% for a year and after the year was up I visited a branch and talked to them and they renewed my account at the same rate for another 6 months. Both banks have no minimums and had no restrictions on deposits or transfers.
HAB is a legitimate FDIC insured banking institution with branches in NYC and the general metro area. That its employees are generally of Arab and/or Muslim descent should in no way impugn the great work they do. |
