Sometimes walking from the break room to my office I find myself buffeted into the wall by some unknown wind or untheorized gravity. Other times it is as though I have to hang on to the wall lest I end up somewhere different entirely. The entirety of my cognitive life is taken up by an enormous corkboard with news clippings and pictures strung together and red-inked angry and suspicious but there is nothing at the center. I think it must be the case that one day the confusion will tear it out of me and leave me pale and shivering underneath its silent accusations of conspiracy.
