Anyone know what is going on for summers there? I cannot imagine there will be much work with 1 partner and 13 associates. Anyone know why almost all their partners left?

Dewey LA also blew up.
hopefully the new firm would also need summers. Call up a partner you interviewed with.

Milbank PA was tiny, right?
Basically, a bunch of out-of-town firms set up outposts in SV when it was raining dotcom money. 90% have failed to take root. Gradually they will dry up and blow away.

How many native CA firms are there in PA anyways.
They left for dechert, not wsgr or cooley.

they went to whoever wanted them.
wilson gets a lot of resumes from branch office lawyers -- they can afford to be picky.

native bay area firms are mofo, townsend, wsgr, cooley and fenwick, orrick
meanwhile you have dechert, simpson, wiel, skadden, both fishes, finnegan, gibson dunn, latham, howrey, mcdermott, perkins, white and case, wilmer cutler, DLA, jones day, squire sanders..
I left off the firms I'm not sure off...
it seems like that's the vast majority of firms are satellites and not everybody is going to wsgr.

i dont think the PPP thing would be much of a factor. It's just an average, I wouldn't be surprised if every firm has some sort of eat what you kill system.
I'm guessing if they left, it was because of politics and power. Especially if they had their own book of business.
heck, if i had intel as a client, i'd just set up my own shop and take all the profits. Something like day casebeer.

dla - merged with gray cary
perkins - merged with a local IP boutique
ropes and gray - merged with the local fish branch

from what i heard, gray carey wasn't doing well. So they're probably not a good example of a local firm weeding out the foreigners.
wow, i didn't know fish and neave merged with ropes. At any rate, fish and neave was a NY firm as well.

No, sorry. If you did accept an offer there, it looks like almost the whole team went to another firm in the area. Just google the name and see what is up. They may want you at the new firm, and Dewey still may have every intention of honoring your offer. Though they would probably need some more partners.

In this sort of situation, I think it is best that you contact Jeannine (the managing partner at the office) and see what it means for you. i wish I could give you a better answer, and I'm very sorry you had to learn this way. :(
Did you interview with James Elacqua?

Bet you've been wondering why you haven't gotten any emails lately.
Okay, maybe I'm not feeling *that* bad that I turned down a $145k firm. Although to be fair, I don't think mine was in danger of imploding anytime soon.
