Have you read "The Partners" by James B Stewart? he's a former associate there who went on to publish/edit (?) American Lawyer. Good stuff on the AT&T trials (prominantly featuring Boies). I was a para there for a little over a year. Didn't strike me as a tight knit place from observations and talking with younger associates, but who the fuck knows. Paras see so goddamned little, through bleary eyes to boot. |

I pulled 80-90 during busy cycles as a para (doc review, discovery pushes, ramp up before filings) and the associates were always a little more than that. It was busy more than it wasn't. I was also under a partner who had busy/good cases. Some of the older partners had slower/less cases and their associates probably did too. I'm sure someone here knows a lot more about this. |

Seriously, check out that book. The Cravath chapter makes them sound sweet as fuck, and the other chapters give a nice look at the culture and values of the other big NYC firms, at least the culture in the 70's. |
