because you dipshits throw around H-1B reform and open borders like it's some sort of god damned panacea for the real problems underlying wage stagnation and economic inequality
your solution is basically to stent the problem with unsustaintable rent seeking behavior and then push people's racist buttons to get them on board with your hare fucking brained nonsense
the idea that unrestrained high skill immigration is the cause of millennials' downward mobility is insane, and BROTHER if that's what you think, I'm not sure I can level with you either

You focused on wrong part of that sentence.
His post does imply that the average citizen who supports immigration bans is racist. But that -/-> everyone who supports immigration bans are racist
Edit: still waiting on IQ. My guess is 115

1) The guy making my sandwich doesn’t even know what an h1b is and has no opinion on high tech worker visas
2) front end developers making 45k are pretty “average”
3) most of the people who oppose h1bs are in tech

easy solution to crybaby's rent problem.
dont live in nyc, sf, or dc.
also was an easy solution to student loans problem. no one made these whiners go to places like Tufts for 200k. They could have gone to public state u for around 60k total.
bad choices have consequences

he made like 200K/year (then dollars) in the 1980s as an engineer and had stock options
some years he would bring in 300K then dollars
granted, he went to MIT, but still, my point stands

he was an EE grad - they all got high paying jerbs back then from good schools
he worked in the semiconductor industry - not for finance, obviously
the SF bay area was $$$$$$$$44 for tech even 30 years ago

i went to an undergrad where the AVERAGE engineer made over 100K starting at graduation plus stock options even 10+ years ago. this is a top tier STEM school
your numberse are meaningless to me, b/c were talking about schools with good programs and working in a prime location.
it is completely feasible for a fucking MIT grad to make 200K in the 1980s in EE in California
stop being a tech noob

cr, prob around half
engineers from good schools can still make 200-300k in the tech sector these days starting without too much trouble. back then, they could make 500K+ starting with ease
also housing was like 1/5th the cost

ok, i just converted - i guess he "only" made 500K in current dollars straight out of college
he would have head hunters call him like 3 times a week too, and every time they job switched, he'd make 20K more
Whatever, point still stands

What about journalists? I don't know if this dude is just a contributor or employee of the Huffington Post, but the median journalist salary is ~$48K according to a quick Google search. Before you say $48K is shit, dude should still be able to live in a major city with that income. For some reason xo has come to think it's reasonable that only wealthy people with six figure salaries should live in major metros while everyone else commutes 2 hours each day. Plenty of Millenials would love to live in a 2800 sq ft 4 bd house in the Rust Belt or Texas for the price of a 500 sq ft studio in NYC/SF but the Capitalists aren't hiring in those cities. Maybe Millenials could start their own businesses, but the small business landscape is very different than it used to be as well. Before, small mom and pops could eek out a living, or small industry could serve local markets. We both know those have been crushed by Walmart, Amazon, and China. The main thing left is tech and services. tech is highly centralized around certain hubs, sources of funding, infrastructure, and services require a geographic critical mass/density of population that shittowns in middle America don't have.
I would think a journalist at one of the more widely read news sources could earn a little more than the industry median. The writer is probably some contributor paid per published article and is part of the "gig" economy with very little job security.

My take:
-immigration, low iq mexicans taking bad jobs from teens, high iq immigrants taking good jobs (doctors, engineers, programmers), all depressing both college and non-college wages
-immigration puts pressure on real estate- see: california, chinese all cash buyers hiding money in empty houses, all push rent up so that young people can't afford to live anywhere now
-home speculation by boomers inflating home prices
-outsourcing of jobs to 2nd and 3rd world countries steal tons of jobs, especially in manufacturing
-automation of factories steals tons of jobs
-trade agreements allowing products like cars to be made by Ford in Mexico and sold in the U.S....tons of lost jobs there
-cartels and monopolies allowed to operate freely in the u.s., creating non-competitive markets and barriers to entry for small businesses that kill jobs. See: medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, entertainment
-cost disease and administrative bloat in government and pseudo-government institutions that are gobbling up all of our GDP and turning the young into no better than indentured servants (see: college attendance, administrators outnumbering tenured professors, medicare/medicaid/Social Security)
-dumb foreign assistance and foreign wars draining trillions, that could be spent more effectively at home
I would fix all of these first, then we can talk.
But i'm guessing libs don't want to fix ANY of these, so let the fags like the author of the article eat ramen. I understood what was going on so, I came out a winner. He will never understand, and will remain a poorfag writer loser his whole life, voting for the same lib policies that keep him a serf.

Wages are up broadly!
Homeownership is through the roof!
Inequality is down!
Housing prices have become rational (thanks to sensible zoning reform)!
Productivity gains are reducing health care costs!
Education is getting more affordable!

If they just complained about jobs and the economy and the cost of real estate, I would respect them.

In one way, it is self correcting. Millenials are having children at a much lower rate. If you look at UMC and MC millenials it is really low.

Gabriel wanted to study music at an arts college, but after a series of unfortunate events he's stuck applying to an electrician apprentice program.
That pretty much sums up the stupidity of these millenials and where the blame should rest.
