Edit:

The "associates per partner" calculation counts only "equity partners" as "partners". Sorry, Kirkland, your little scam has not fooled me.

When the AmLaw 200 list comes out, Quinn should be up there at $1.9m and I think there's a chance Irell will be there as well.

AmLaw 200 came out the month after AmLaw 100 last year, but last year's AmLaw 100 didn't come out until July. If the AmLaw 200 does take longer it's probably because there's more firms in that range who are reluctant to disclose this info.

What do you make of the different leverage and similiar PPP? Do you think it reflects differences in billing rates, and to some extent hours?

It explains Wachtell, since (I think) they charge a flat fee (% of MEGADEAL value) instead of hourly billing, and when they're productive that translates into a lot of deals/money per hour.

Otherwise I think the difference might be in billing, but perhaps in terms of which practice areas make up their revenue. Litigation requires more hours and bankruptcy bills have to be disclosed to the court, and there's probably more subtle differences among the Wall Street firms also.

Cadwalader should be able to flog more productivity out of it's 47.9 associates per partner.

The "associates per partner" numbers are not accurate for firms that have 2-tier partnership structures.

True enough; but non-equity partners are similiar enough to senrior associates than I'm not losing sleep.
