The core classes are graded on a curve so getting an a is quite difficult. Once you get into your junior and senior years you can try to take seminar classes to balance out the low grade inflation in the math and science classes. I think it is a more miserable place than MIT, partly because of where it is. MIT was tough but manageable, and is big enough so you can either find your groove or get lost - you pick. There are no dumbs/jocks/legacies to anchor the curve (if there is a curve - not always the case when I was there long ago). Unless you are a true genius, you will feel dumb. Getting into CalTech is prestigious, so is getting into any of HYP. Turning them down for CalTech may very well be soooooo CR if there's any number of logical reasons to prefer it as a better fit, but honestly late 2010 xo's obsession w CalTech is cucky af and sad! tedious physics envy from a tribe of smart but lazy PEnn EDing humanities majoring self-mollycoddling cucks, steering clear and giving all things "STEM" a wide berth in favor of all things verbal intelligence (more g-loaded than matthhhhs guythhh!!) not because it's necessarily where their interests lay, but because it was what ... was ... easy. and so (xo poas bought themselves a lifetime of physics envy: exalting all things "STEM" and consecrating all things CalTech--a tiny little technical college whose entire undergraduate student body is about half the size of Harvard's freshman class, tucked away somewhere in Pasadena that though they've never even driven by it, never fails to serve as a reminder and beacon of what true Rigor and Merit must be like.
Oh, and the fact they have no patience for telling rear-of-the-class niggers they're the next Neil deGrasse Tyson (himself a rear-of-the-class nigger) just because they happen to be the "best" at math among that year's applicants who don't need sunscreen ... well that doesn't hurt in the eye's of xo either. |
