i don't think the term "alt-right" even means anything anymore (and i'm not sure it ever did). are pewdiepie fans "alt-right?" were the covington kids "alt-right?" are people in seattle who are speaking out against the lib rot "alt-right?"
this group of people is necessarily only going to get larger and broader as libs get more and more insane as time goes on, until there is finally some sort of breaking point. it is inevitable whether anyone likes it or not |

The only thing I'd say in defense of my original point is that I wasn't referring to the big tent that the media calls the alt-right, but the 4chan edgy meme lord culture that originally popularized the term. Like, the Daily Stormer and the blogs associated with it have definitely seen better days. |

i'm old enough to remember when the 4chan crowd was "liberal" and bashed conservative christians, the iraq and afghanistan wars, etc, because that was the establishment orthodoxy at the time. now that leftism is the establishment orthodoxy, they rail against that instead. that's how kids will always be. i'm not saying that their influence doesn't make a difference in the world, but that it doesn't really make sense to think of them as political/ideological actors in the same way that we think of adults as political/ideological actors |
