On being "Normal" in Japan

Everyone is struggling to be "normal", to be the Japanese middle class, owning a manshon (high-rise apartment) you're almost never home to enjoy, a car you're almost never on holiday to use, a wife and kids you don't see for days, no hobbies, no time for anything else, gotta look busy 18 hours a day, or else the boss thinks you're lazy!
At 60, when the time you think you're gonna enjoy retirement, being home everyday makes your wife realize a stranger has entered "her home", she divorces you, manshon gone, car gone, retirement gone, now you're living in a one room 2mx4m square apartment eating instant noodle everyday and work part time jobs as a bicycle-parking attendant.
