It's like NY or CA. You just should not go to law school after the top 3 or 4 schools unless someone's paying and you just want to work at a 2 attorney firm making 30k.

Florida is a parochial state run by UF and FSU grads who don't give a shit about many out-of-state schools. UF grads will tell you with a straight face their alma mater is as good as UVa, UM, etc.

While I've met people from FSU and Nova down here, they are generally older and booked like 50 classes during law school. And no, none of them are allowed near my firm.

From my interviews, it seems like the only cities outside Miami w/ law firms are tampa and orlando both of which prefer UF grads.

I know lawyers here from basically Martin County south to Key West (well, I know 1 person who practices in KW) and their loyalties are evenly split b/w UF and Miami with no regard for fsu.

Maybe in the capitol they prefer fsu.

fsu has good placement in orlando, tampa, jacksonville, and atlanta. Tallahassee and most state appointed offices state wide are of course dominated by FSU grads.

i have no idea why you're trolling for fsu, but statewide, uf is definitely the most respected school and in south florida (the only place that matters here) miami is tied with uf. but anyone from hyc pwns them regardless.

look, clearly uf is narrowly the best school, but south florida is not the only game in town, and yes, fsu does very well in north florida and in atlanta. why is this difficult to get?

in south florida.

Author: Crawly exhilarant bawdyhouse preventive strike

right but i have friends in tampa and orlando at some of the "big" firms, well, big for fl, i.e. gt, hk, gy, cf and they seem to all believe uf is the best. down here, miami is about the same. regardless, if you went to hyc or even duke, gulc or emory you get priority.

i don't doubt that uf has the best rep state wide. what i am suggesting is that fsu is to north florida as UM is to miami.

Date: June 2nd, 2006 2:17 PM

that's possible but i don't think fsu has any weight in atlanta or dc similar to uf.

Date: June 2nd, 2006 2:19 PM

i have no idea how much play uf gets in atlanta or dc. but i do know that a sizeable chunk of fsu people are getting placed in atlanta and they have a couple of good internships in dc, one in the white house. beyond that, i have no idea.
