in comparison during that period Arkansas went for dem presidents 5/10 times (like a Nevada/Colorado/New Mexico dem today) |

In 2016, Trump's 31% in CA was the lowest by a major party nominee since John Davis 1924. Hillary won Orange County, first Dem to do so since FDR 1936.
Between 1942 and 1998 CA had just 2 Dem governors: Pat Brown and his son Jerry. |
