Well over half a million? When you add up all the people who leave the practice within 10 years and leave biglaw to go gov't, public interest, small-law, and mediocre in-house it's easily over half of t6 grads. The odds that he's going to both enjoy the practice and make enough to make this venture worthwhile really aren't that great.
