I’ve already had to refer out a couple of juicy PI cases that settled for 6 figures each because I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing (I don’t practice law full time, let alone specialize in PI). Are there resources out there that would educate me on how to handle cases like these when they pop up?

Probably so... I would think good sources would have practice guides for multiple states though

Get some covid accounts for westlaw and lexis and download whatever they have for your state. That's what I use. The ones for my state are pretty thorough but they're all written by different people.

Could you elaborate on COVID accounts? Are they free right now or something?

Public libraries around the country have closed due to covid and made deals with westlaw/lexis to give remote access to patrons. These accounts had full access to all the expensive practice guides. Google around and see if this deal is still running. http://autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=4576948&forum_id=2

Don't refer. If it's a good case then sign them up immediately and seek out co-counsel. This is what folks basically have to do in states that prohibit referral fees.
