just went to a new doctor who refused to prescribe me adderall

I've been taking adderall since college with no issues, and sought out a new primary care physician. I showed up to my appointment with about 30 pages of medical records from my previous doctor's office, and while the nurse was seeing me, she was like, "Oh, Dr. Turdskin refuses to prescribe adderall to adults." I explained that I've been taking this medication for years and to contact my previous doctor. She was like "I know, it's really weird, but it's a personal thing for him." She told me she could switch me to the other doctor in the office who will happily prescribe it, but she's on vacation until next week. I never got to meet the doctor and left with a promise that they'd call me to reschedule. They were also an hour late for the appointment. I showed up at 9:30 to fill out paperwork and didn't leave until 11:15.
I'm pretty infuriated and will be contacting ZocDoc and leaving a bad review on Google and Yelp. Fuck this guy. I could understand him meeting with me and perhaps explaining his reasons for not wanting to prescribe it, but he didn't even do that. I never met him and the nurse kept telling me that "he really is a very good doctor."
To me, there is something fundamentally flawed about a doctor who refuses to meet a patient and downright refuses to prescribe a popular and commonly used medication. |

Date: March 21st, 2023 2:30 PM Author: Alcoholic Karate Jew doctors can't control what other doctors do with their license. nor would they want to. why have practice partners duke it out over something like adderrall? and the reason that doctor has a blanket prescription ban is that prescribing narcs invites scrutiny by the DEA. some physicians just don't want to deal with it. there are very few true indications for narcs to begin with, so the headache of prescribing is usually more troublesome than the loss of patient volume they incur by not doing so. they don't get money for the referral itself but BigHealth is definitely incentivized to buy out all the local practices and keep patients within their "system". you should find a shrink outside the practice, but they may have bought out enough practices that you don't have an option anyway.. |

He performed a thorough physical, reviewed all of my medications and medical history, and told me to come back in 6 months. I was seen less than 5 min after arriving, and he was really laid back and had no issues with continuing my medication. I picked up my adderall a few moments ago and am about to GET SHIT DONE.
