Why ibanking pwns biglaw [174]

To me, working a job I really detest is worth it because my only source of income is my job. Because I inherited nothing my family instilled in me the following ideal: make as much money as possible, because you're poor and therefore this should be your primary goal in life, along with people who star in rap videos and lease Escalades after eating out of troughs since birth.
The second reason ibanking pwns biglaw is because I'm really stupid. It's hard for me to comprehend that entry level analysts might not make as much as first year biglaw associates. Because money is extremely important to me, and because I'm dumb as a brick, I will make up numbers and statistics and bonus figures to "prove" my arguments. If that doesn't work, I will point out that lawyers have to go to law school. This novel argument allows me to showcase something I learned in Microecon 101 called "opportunity cost." The opportunity costs of law school are a very big deal to me because I grew up poor and consider a few hundred grand to be a lot of money.
I love ibanking because it might pay more than biglaw, or at least that's what my friends on the internet tell me. I don't really know what ibanking is, but I am good at following the crowd. Some of the ibankers on this board are really successful and provide great advice, like :D and Joe_Vaj. I hope this clarifies why ibanking PWNS LOLZ LOZLZ BIGLAW OMG LOLZ!118!. |

Ibanking is also better than law because you have to go to law school to be a lawyer, as constantly pointed out by ibanking trolls. It's really helpful to point this out; most prospective attorneys had no idea they would have to spend three years in law school. Thank you for clarifying, so eloquently, that "analyst = 4 years of UG" and "[biglaw] associate = 4 years of UG and 3 years JD." I never knew this and was shocked, upon completing my second year of law school, that there would be another before I could graduate.
You raise a good point, however- how can I compare a first year analyst and a first year biglaw associate? Well, it only seems logical to compare lawyers and ibankers. Think about it- the two are so similar that comparisons between them warrant a dozen threads every day. They're almost as closely related as ibanking and playing in the NBA- how can you even argue that it's dumb to compare biglaw and ibanking? The two are completely identical except that biglaw sucks (while ibanking is totally awesome and fun), pays next to nothing (but more than what a lot of ibankers get), and is filled with people who "didn't have a chance" at ibanking (because they never tried for it). If they weren't so closely related there wouldn't be a need for all the wannabe ibankers trolling a law school message board. |
