All these movies where Tom Cruise or someone wears the uniform were only able to be made after we beat Saddam and overcame the obsession with Vietnam that plagued Hollywood in the 80s. Instead of Chuck Norris shooting people or Christopher Walken shooting himself, you could show Tom Fucking Cruise doing HLS -> JAG. I know, there was Top Gun in 1986, but that was about planes that shoot other planes, not bombers, lol.
