The having to bow and having to hand your credit card to someone like it’s a family heirloom can be mentally taxing after a while. Also having to treat old people like sacred cows.
Japanese breakfast sucks after a day or two. I don’t like eating fish, soup, or natto in the morning.
The amount of tourists at peak times is annoying. I don’t like being associated with the bogans and other trash that visit there.
Restaurant reservations are hard to make online though that’s getting better.

Like there's a brush for cleaning your feet. You can't even get into the bath unless you've already scrubbed your feet, nevermind your ass and balls.
To really fit into a household, plan on visiting the hot baths on whatever day the male head of the household is going, and go with him. Go ahead and get naked and do the cleaning routines with him as your witness. Doing this just once is going to affect how the whole family treats you. If by chance this is a family that doesn't go to the hot baths often, the mere fact that you asked about it will tick a box in their brain. You can also just tell them "Saturday is my bath day" and go do it on your own, or even lie about it and claim you went to the bath that day even though you didn't. |
