Bon Jovi = yes.
Springsteen = provisionally no. Definite no if you're talking about his 1972-1975 material (especially The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle), likely no if it's the 1978-1982 material, definite yes if you're talking about 1984 (BITUSA) and afterwards.

Some of the 1984 onwards stuff is good. It all starts sucking with The Rising.
Actually the Seeger Sessions was good though.

There's a huge gap in quality & credibility between Springsteen (who has both, at least until around 1984 or so) and Bon Jovi (who never had either).
Hey, anybody want a mix of obscure Springsteen gems? I'm in that sort of mood...

I'm still not sure why you'd mention Springsteen and Bon Jovi in the same thread title.
Springsteen was an actual songwriter with quite a lot of skill, and some well-regarded pop gems. Listen to "Highway Patrolman" off the Nebraska album, for example. That's a music COMPOSITION, not just a throwaway song.
Bon Jovi is just terrible. Music for nostalgic yuppie women, in fact. Blunt, unskilled, maudlin, etc. Now and then, he'd have a passable hook, but he never did anything memorable MUSICALLY.

This is 100% TCR. Excellent call on "Highway Patrolman," too. That one's just a heartbreaker. It's the lyrics that make that one though, not the melody; Springsteen always had a good band behind him, and could string chords together pretty well, but he never could write a great melody.
The best song from the Born In The U.S.A. era is one that didn't even make the album, and was actually first written & performed back in 1976: "Frankie." Check that shit out, it's titanic. (Can be found on disc 3 of Tracks.)

"if the purpose of a song is to tell a story then Bruce is one of the top 10 or so."
All too credited.

Listen to a song like "Thunder Road" and then tell me you are still trying to draw comparisons between Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen?? This is awful Bon Jovi trolling that attempts to be subtle. Too bad it's horribly overdone.
