Ony run Windows in a VM for the next few years, at least

Because of this, Microsoft has no real incentive to maintain it properly. It can get fucked by 0-days for a long time before MS fixes it, and the fixes don't install properly half the time, so all these computers are still sitting out there nekked even though MS pushed a patch six months ago. |

Hook it up to your network, go into the hypervisor/VM manager, and install windows on THAT pc using the web browser on your laptop or whatever computer you normally use to run windows.
Then, on your laptop, use Windows Remote Desktop to connect to your "server" where Windows is running in a VM. If you need access on-the-go, install Wireguard or Tailscale and it will be just like you're on your home network, even if you move to China. You can probably get by with Openvpn too, I just never fucked with it. |

Date: April 26th, 2025 1:30 PM Author: hairraiser henna quadroon range Gotcha. I use regular old Remote Desktop (RD Client on my phone) to access Windows on my computer and run Word on my phone. Doing that with a mini Bluetooth keyboard is way better sometimes than dragging my laptop around.

A better move might be just buy an old version of Office that doesn't run off the cloud. No idea what version that would be, but you can probably get an activation key on gray market sites like whokeys. |
