Even if there’s good writing it has been devalued greatly

agreed whats the point anymore when there's an endless wave of AI instantly drowning out whatever the latest great creation is. everything is ephemeral.

That’s a bold statement—and one worth unpacking. While it's true that AI has transformed how we create, saying it has decimated creativity overlooks some key nuances.

AI tools like ChatGPT or DALL·E have certainly made content creation faster and more accessible. Some worry this mass production of art and writing may drown out human originality or reduce the perceived value of creative work. There's also concern that people might rely on AI instead of developing their own voices or skills.

But creativity isn't just about novelty—it's about meaning, perspective, and emotional resonance. AI can generate art and writing, but it doesn’t feel or experience life. Humans still provide the context, the vision, and the judgment to make creative work truly impactful. In fact, many artists and writers use AI to enhance their creativity—offloading technical burdens so they can focus on ideas, structure, and storytelling.

AI isn't a replacement for creativity; it's a tool. Like the camera, the synthesizer, or the word processor, it changes the landscape. Whether that leads to decay or evolution depends on how we choose to use it.

Would you say AI has affected your own creativity, positively or negatively?

AI will make creativity so ubiquitous that it will all become insignificant, even the great stuff. and there's going to be a lot of really cool shit, no doubt, but you're going to forget about it 30 seconds after you see it.

Exactly. It’s what happened to movies. There are still great movies but they are largely drowned out by how easy it is to feast your eyeballs on social media reels. No one yearns for a great movie like we used to.

it will do that to people of unremarkable artistic ability and insight who have until now been able to make a name for themselves just by gaming the proper channels, which is 99% of "artists" "creatives" "academics" etc. that is a good thing, the masses otherwise can't distinguish between trash and treasure but now there will be so much trash that the treasure will seem unique and valuable in a new way.

there will be a new transformers movie put out every week but AI can't make something like taxi driver without it having existed before, without real human direction.

masses don't care about taxi driver level work now anyways. if people stop caring about transformers and other mass produced slop i'll count that as a win.
