This amounts to a permanent tax imposed on Russia — a bureaucratic, economic, and psychological burden that forces them to treat every civilian vehicle as a potential weapons platform. The genius isn't that Ukraine can position threats everywhere simultaneously; it's that Russia must now assume they might. Consider the mathematics: Russia operates hundreds of critical facilities across eleven time zones, each within range of roadways used by legitimate commercial traffic. Ukraine proved that patient intelligence and easily accessible hardware can weaponize any of these logistics flows, creating an impossible defensive equation where protecting everything becomes prohibitively expensive.

This isn't the last time shit like this will go down, nor is Russia the last country it will happen in. This is a legit sci-fi dystopia timeline now.

Plus, they have to think that, if they truly get Ukraine's backs against the wall, and are threatening Kiev or something like that, Ukraine can make attacks like this on their nuclear submarine bases.

Moreover, regardless of how many bombers were destroyed today, Russia now has to reckon with the high likelihood that, if they keep this war going for another couple of years, they may well see close to their entire fleet of heavy bombers destroyed in attacks like this.
