I'll just give one example because I'm lazy and fuck you, but if I cared I could find plenty of others:

24pk San Pellegrino zero cal - $18

24pk Pepsi - $25

I think the better point is that chicken, pork, and beef are all still dirt cheap and potatoes, broccoli, carrots etc have never been anything but pennies, you just have to learn to turn on a stove

yes but this is too much to ask of these people, it drives the point home harder when you show how easy it is to replace their off the shelf convenience items with others that won't make them fat disgusting slobs like disco fries.

my breaking point on the whole food desert thing was almost 20 years ago, I went to a kroger every week in the fancy part of town, like it had a valet service and the biggest organic section you could imagine, but it was still all just kroger prices, same sale, same store brand cans etc

one day I was headed down a road not two miles away on the older downtrodden side of town and there was a kroger there and I decided to just stop by and grab some stuff, this store was double the square footage of the fancy one and not accessible by anything but car, when I went in there was nothing, nothing, but 2 lbs packs of the cheap ground beef, frozen pizzas, and shitty cans, as far as the eye could see, no produce section, like none, maybe a few bagged salads

I realized I could not buy food I would eat at this store and when I went to pull out I further realized that not only was it like a mile away from the fancy store but they were connected by a road, it was maybe a 3 minute drive to get there, the poor kroger was almost certainly using the same trucks and it was not selling anything the rich one didn't have, it just wasn't selling anything good, the poor people didn't want anything but dented cans and frozen pizza, the kroger company had served them as well as it could but this is what the market demanded
